Welcome

Welcome to the new El Centro College Faculty Association website.
Although every effort is made to ensure the content reported is correct, there may be other representations as to accuracy. The opinions expressed here represent my own and not necessarily those of the Faculty Association. In addition, my thoughts and opinions change from time to time…I consider this a necessary consequence of having an open mind. This blog is intended to provide a snapshot of events and considerations for faculty.

Make time to communicate
"It’s return week."
It is a brand new academic year!
Those few words bring so many different feelings all at once.
Excitement, in anticipation of meeting the new students who are full of energy and ready to change their lives.
The feeling of comfort when you walk back to the familiar smells and sounds of the crowded school.
Anxiety, knowing you already have more to do than there is time.
Real Hope, that this year you can do better than keep up. That some innovations will be made that improve your effectiveness, and maybe save you some time.
  • The purpose of the faculty association is to provide an umbrella of safety from things that would put our contracts and academic freedom at risk.
The benefit is that we are all under this umbrella together. It gives us a sense of community, a platform for discussion and one voice to communicate the things that are most important to us. Our voice together is strong and should facilitate meaningful input into practices that enhance our outcomes.
With this blog, the goal is to better communicate the happenings that affect us.
Make time to communicate with each other. Make time to communicate with administration.
Make time to communicate with me.
